Dress Code
Pre-Ballet
- Ballet attire (see below) strongly encouraged.
- Shoes: Pink ballet flats for girls; black ballet flats for boys. No drawstrings preferred.
Pre-Jazz/Tap
- Jazz attire (see below) strongly encouraged.
- Shoes: Black jazz shoes and black tap shoes.
Pre-Jazz/Acro
- Girls: Leotard with optional shorts or leggings.
- Boys: Fitted athletic shirt with athletic shorts or pants.
- Shoes: Black jazz shoes. Acro is performed barefoot.
Ballet — Levels 1+
- Girls: Pink tights and dance leotard. Optional ballet skirt, leg warmers, or ballet sweater.
- Boys: Fitted white, black, or neutral dance shirt with black tights, leggings, or fitted dance pants.
- Shoes: Pink canvas ballet flats for girls; black ballet flats for boys. No drawstrings.
Jazz — Level 1
- Girls: Leotard with skin toned tights and optional shorts, leggings, or yoga pants.
- Boys: Fitted dance shirt or athletic shirt with fitted pants, leggings, or dance shorts.
- Shoes: Black jazz shoes.
Jazz — Level 2+
- Girls: Leotard or fitted dance top with skin toned tights and optional shorts, leggings, or yoga pants.
- Boys: Fitted dance or athletic shirt with leggings, jazz pants, or athletic/dance shorts.
- Shoes: Skin toned jazz shoes.
Acro
- Girls: Leotard with optional shorts or leggings.
- Boys: Fitted athletic shirt with athletic shorts or pants.
- Shoes: Bare feet.
Lyrical / Modern / Contemporary
- Girls: Fitted dancewear such as a leotard, tank/crop top, leggings, shorts, or dance pants.
- Boys: Fitted dance or athletic shirt with leggings, fitted pants, or dance shorts.
- Shoes: Bare feet.
Hip Hop
- Comfortable clothing that allows for unrestricted movement.
- Girls & Boys: T-shirts, tanks, sweatpants, joggers, leggings, shorts, or other appropriate athletic wear.
- Shoes: Clean, black-soled sneakers designated for studio use when possible.
Tap
- Comfortable, fitted dancewear that allows instructors to see movement.
- Girls: Leotard, tights, leggings, shorts, or dance pants.
- Boys: Fitted dance/athletic shirt with shorts, leggings, or dance pants.
- Shoes: Black tap shoes.
Musical Theater
- Comfortable, movement-friendly dancewear.
- Girls & Boys: Leotards, fitted tops, leggings, dance pants, shorts, or other athletic/dance attire.
- Shoes: Dance shoes appropriate to the activity. Students may be asked to bring jazz shoes, character shoes, or sneakers depending on the choreography.
General Dress Code Guidelines
- Hair should be secured away from the face for all dance classes.
- Jewelry should be limited for safety. Stud earrings only.
- Clothing should be fitted enough for instructors to safely observe alignment and technique.
- Avoid oversized clothing, jeans, buttons, zippers, or clothing that restricts movement.
- Boys are welcome to wear traditional dancewear or athletic clothing that meets the requirements above.
- If you are unsure what to wear, please ask! We want every dancer to feel comfortable and confident in class.
